Nadat we eerder leerden dat het budget van Lords of the Fallen 2 was teruggeschroefd, de game was ondergebracht bij een nieuwe studio en de ontwikkeling zelfs opnieuw was gestart hoopten we dat er eindelijk betere tijden aan zouden komen. Toch lijkt dit niet het geval.
Het lijkt er namelijk op dat ontwikkelaars CI Games en Defiant Studios met elkaar in de clinch zijn gekomen. Blijkbaar is dit geschil zo hoog opgelopen dat laatstgenoemde studio nu van het project is gehaald en CI Games het spel zelf af zal ronden, gebruikmakend van hulp buitenaf.
In een persverklaring van de ontwikkelaar is te lezen:
quote:
"The termination of the agreement was submitted due to inadequate execution by Defiant [of] a key work stage (milestone no. 11), a so-called vertical slice. The quality of the work was lower than expected by the company, as precisely described in the agreement, despite three calls to improve the quality of this stage of work."
Defiant Studios is het op haar beurt niet eens met de verklaring en komt met een tegengeluid, zo laat oprichter en Managing Director David Grijns weten:
quote:
"We categorically disagree with the portrayal of Defiant Studios made by CI Games. The team that was working on CI Games' project was comprised of exceedingly talented developers whose work we fully stand behind. Our team knows how to build quality games as is evident by their key roles in Just Cause 3, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Far Cry 5, Devil May Cry (DmC) and many other top tier projects."
Opvallend genoeg verving Defiant Studios juist ontwikkelaar Deck13. Met de toevoeging van Defiant Studios moest het project opnieuw worden gestart, onduidelijk is nu in welke fase de ontwikkeling zich bevindt.
