Met de God of War Collection bundelt de ontwikkelaar de eerste twee delen op een Blu-Ray disc, en daar horen uiteraard Trophies bij.
Design Director Todd Papy geeft aan dat ze met de Trophies een meerwaarde konden geven voor de gamer, denk aan de 'opschepfactor' om aan te tonen hoe goed je bent. Hiernaast was het ook leuk voor de ontwikkelaar zelf, zo konden ze er leuke grapjes in verwerken, alsmede verhalen die ze wilden vertellen.
Een voorbeeld hiervan is de 'Speed of Jason McDonald' Trophy. Aan het einde van de ontwikkeling van God of War hielden veel van de ontwikkelaars een speedrun en Jason McDonald (tegenwoordig Sr. Combat Designer van God of War III) had altijd het record in handen, vandaar ook deze eer voor hem.
