FIFA Football staat al jaren aan de kop van het voetbalgames maar elk slaagt het superieure Pro Evolution Soccer erin om iets dichter bij de verkoopscijfers van FIFA te komen. Electronic Arts moet dus voor FIFA Football 2006 zeker een tandje bijsteken om de populairste te blijven.
FIFA Football 2006 zal de game worden die op het meeste aantal consoles zal verschijnen lijkt het. Naast versies voor de PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox en PC krijgen ook alle handhelds (Game Boy Advance, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS) en zelfs de drie next-gen consoles; Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 en zelfs de minst onthulde Revolution; een versie van FIFA 2006. De game zal dus zeker niet in de categorie exclusieve games terechtkomen.
We weten ook wie de cover zal mogen versieren van de games, het gaat om de jonge talenten Wayne Rooney en Ronaldinho. Hun goede prestaties op jonge leeftijd maken hen de perfecte keuze om de jeugd te motiveren volgens EA. De soundtrack bestaat uit 39 liedjes en achter elk liedje staat het land dat het liedje representeert.
