Vorig jaar verscheen How To Survive op de digitale systemen van de PC, PlayStation 3 en Xbox 360, waarna later dit jaar ook een Wii U uitgave niet uit bleef. Ontwikkelaar EKO Software wil haar titel echter nog niet afsluiten en kondigt een Storm Warning Edition aan.
Later dit jaar verschijnt de game nogmaals voor de Xbox One en PlayStation 4, inclusief nieuwe maps, karakters, modi, wapens en survival tips. Alle add-on content die je krijgt is als volgt:
- Heat Wave DLC to equip the 3 original playable characters with fireproof suits and teach them the ability to craft incendiary ammo.
- Kovac’s Way DLC, which introduces an additional difficulty level to the game with new and demanding gameplay conditions.
- Hello, My name is Nina DLC. Presenting an additional character with the ability to craft flamethrowers and advanced chainsaws.
- “El Diablo” Islands DLC where players will discover new islands, meet new characters and face unpredictable threats.
- One Shot Escape DLC. Allowing players to roam the islands on a highly randomized scenario trying to find and repair an escape vehicle.
- Barricade! DLC. Introduces a new game mode where players will try to protect survivors as long as they can, setting traps and barricades.
Ondanks de nieuwe uitgave blijft de verhaallijn hetzelfde: als speler zijn we gestrand op een eilandengroep nabij Colombia. Al snel blijkt echter dat je niet alleen bent, ook zombies hebben hun intrek op het eiland genomen en dus is het je doel om te overleven.
How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition is later dit jaar verkrijgbaar via het PlayStation Network en Xbox Live.
